  Sabu Dastagir Indian-born American actor Got a chance to work in the Film 'Mother India' but denied due  Sabu Dastagir, usually known simply as Sabu , was an Indian-born American actor (1924 – 1963). ·        Early Life: He was born in Karapur, Mysore, India, and grew up in poverty. His life changed when documentary filmmaker Robert Flaherty discovered him while filming Elephant Boy (1937), based on Rudyard Kipling’s story Toomai of the Elephants . ·        Film Career: Sabu became internationally famous for his natural charm and screen presence.
